Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and humankind.

COMMENT:
Love is the theme of the entire Bible, according to Jesus. When asked what was the greatest commandment, Jesus said it was to love God and to love people and that the entire Bible hung on those two commandments (see Matthew 22:34-40). If you want to have a good reputation with people and with God, the author of Proverbs says it’s quite easy: love others and be faithful to them. Just consider the reputations of George Washington versus Benedict Arnold.
