Still maintain “Life of Brian” is one of the best, if not the best, Biblical movie ever made. Yes, it’s a farce. However, the film makers actually knew something about the historical context and spent time researching and reading the Bible. They weren’t afraid of making fun of religious people and portraying them realistically. Because of that, in the midst of the farcical nonsense, there is real human truth in the film.

I find it interesting that their original ideas included making fun of Jesus, but when they sat down and read his words they could not find anything to make fun of. Obviously there weren’t worried about offending religious people; they honestly thought what Jesus said did not contain the hypocrisy that most of us have and is so easy to skewer.
